What is Hui Studies?
Hui, together with Tibetan and Dunhuang, are the sole three studies recognized as China's "prominent fields of regional scholarship".
Hui Studies is an academic field named after Huizhou (a broader concept rather than a limited administrative district), encompassing religion, literature, language, arts, archaeology, technology, and architecture, with a focus on documents and artifacts unearthed in the Huizhou area.
As an academic discipline, Hui Studies presents a systematic body of knowledge, theories, and doctrines that accurately and judiciously capture the historical cultural heritage and its impact and inheritance on contemporary society.
